Walk it Out

It’s a curious paradox that the U.S. simultaneously has staggeringly high obesity AND hunger rates, but that’s what the statistics tell us. I’ve discussed in past blogs how organizations like Feeding America are trying to deal with the latter; now here’s a way to help with the former.

This September and October, dozens of cities across the country are hosting their annual
Walk from Obesity, to raise awareness of this epidemic and to support initiatives focused on education, research, and the prevention and treatment of obesity.

All proceeds from the walks benefit the
Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). Over the past seven years, the walks have raised almost $4 million to help fight this serious disease.
